If you haven't heard it enough HAPPY 2012 everyone! After only just one week of the new year, all of us here at Coffee Brown Cosmetics can feel that 2012 is going to be a great one. Along with beginning a new year, we also want to celebrate January for another reason Cervical Cancer Awareness Month.
After hearing about January being Cervical Cancer Awareness Month from Teal Toes, an organization that works to raise Ovarian Cancer awareness, a cause we care about very much, we wanted to take part, too.
According to the National Cervical Cancer Coalition, each year in the United States, approximately 12,000 women are diagnosed with Cervical Cancer, and more than 4,000 die from this type of cancer.
"Cervical cancer is caused by specific types of the Human Papillomavirus (HPV), a common infection that almost everyone who is sexually active will have at some point, "the NCCC states. "There are vaccines that block the types of HPV most often found with cervical diseases, and screening tests (such as Pap tests and HPV tests) that can identify women most at risk."
Together, we can spread the word about getting tested and early detection. Also, for the rest of January, rock your teal to support the cause. Teal Toes asks for people to paint their nails teal, but you can also wear teal clothes, eye make-up.
